Every year it never ceases to amaze me.  The University of Oregon’s football team can play pretty good all year, and more often than not they screw it up at the bowl game.  This year’s Holiday bowl was no exception.  They lost to Oklahoma, and they deserved to lose.  They had a chance at the end of the game.  They were driving down the field only to throw an interception down near the end zone.  Go figure, another Leaf choking in San Diego.  Really, they didn’t even deserve to be that close to the end zone.  A bad call by a ref earlier allowed the game to be closer than it should have been.

The whole team just played bad.  That’s not to say that Oklahoma didn’t play well, and didn’t deserve to win.  But the thing that sticks out the most in my mind is the play of the offensive line….specifically in the second half.  They couldn’t do anything.  Oregon’s quarterbacks were running for their lives most of the second half, and the offense couldn’t stay on the field.  The defense looked tired towards the end of the game, and they should have.  They played most of the second half.  They still kept it close though, and gave the Ducks a chance to win in the final minutes.

Oh well.

Go Georgia!!

Go USC!!

So I’m ditching my home grown blogging software in favor of………… DasBlog.

I looked at a couple of other options.  I really wanted to go with Community Server, since it’s roots were in .TEXT, and I really liked that piece of software.  But I downloaded Community Server, and it just didn’t do it for me.  Don’t know what it was, it just didn’t feel right.  I also looked at DotNetNuke, but it seemed like a bit much for what I wanted.

Anyway, new site, same old address.  If you visit with a web browser, you won’t see anything different.  If you aggregate me, then you’ll want to reset your RSS feed too http://www.johnarmitage.net/word/SyndicationService.asmx/GetRss

Hopefully this will be pretty painless, and you’ll keep reading.  Also, I’m hoping to post a little more often in 2006.

Not that I don’t usually go on long hiatuses with my blogging. But this time it’s for a good reason. I’m on vacation. I haven’t written any code in a few weeks, and it’s starting to feel a bit weird. Anyway, here is a short video of what my weeks have basically consisted of. It’s a 7 meg file, so don’t try to watch it unless you have broadband. Be sure to watch until the end. That’s where the money shot is.

Get the file
